A little about me

Who am I? 

I’m Joèl—a stylist, a barber, a man shaped by second chances and the wild beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

I was raised in New York City—where style is a language, and every block has a story. The city taught me about grit, hustle, and the power of self-expression.

Then I answered a different call—to serve my country. The Army forged my discipline, my strength, my brotherhood. I became a combat veteran. 

I thought the uniform would be my life, but God—and life—had other plans.

Barbering became my way forward—a craft that lets me shape not just hair, but confidence and connection. life’s journey isn’t always a straight line. I got sick. I stumbled. I had to step away.

But like the rivers and forests around me, I found strength in resilience. Barbering called me back—reminding me that every man deserves to feel strong, seen, and renewed.

Forest & Haus is a place of brotherhood, togetherness—where everyone celebrate grooming, opening up, and finds a guide, an educator, sometimes even a therapist. 

I honor my faith, my roots, and the wisdom of those who came before me—inspired by Native traditions that teach respect for self, for others, and for the land.

Here, in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, the mountains, the rain, and the spirit of the forest inspire everything I do.
